How does my library borrow from Keene State College?

Borrowing from Keene State College, Mason Library (OCLC:KNM)

If your library cannot borrow through OCLC, use a current browser to log on to ILLiad.  If you cannot log on, click First Time Users to register your library with us. See Note.

If you have a request now, you may enter your first request in the Notes field. We will e-mail you about its availability and send your logon information for the future. After registration you can make ILL requests online without having to re-register and they will be entered immediately. That will assure a quick response and turnaround time for your patron’s requests. Using ILLiad, you can also check the status of your requests and request renewals.

If you are using a publicly accessible computer, be sure to log off and close the browser when you are finished.

*Note: If you have already registered with KSC as an ILLiad library but are unable to log on, there may be a couple of reasons.

If you cannot resolve a problem by using the website tools, e-mail ill@keene.edu.

Other NH colleges and universities that use systems other than NHAIS, including ILLiad, are listed on this website. Registering with another library will not register you with Keene State College, but you may be able to use the same logon and password. Enter it in the "Any symbol you currently use" field.


Is security a problem if I use a public workstation?

Yes. Web browsers cache information and create a history file on the local workstation. This allows a subsequent user of the workstation to access the system under your name using the browser's Back button to recall a page from the cache, or by finding a page with your personal information in the browser's history file. If you are concerned about the security of your interlibrary loan requests, you can either:

  • Access ILLiad only from your personal computer or an otherwise secure workstation.
  • When using a public access workstation:
    1. Exit from the Web browser before you leave the workstation. This prevents the Back button from accessing the pages you were using.

Why don't I see all my older requests when I look at my request history?

From time to time we purge older records from ILLiad. Our policy is to keep requests online for several years in order to comply with record keeping requirements of the copyright law.

Keene State College no longer accepts paper, email, fax, or phone requests. However, we do list our holdings in our online catalog. Libraries without a membership in OCLC can borrow from us through the ILLiad account we set up for you. Over 170 libraries have already done so.
